Gattinara DOCG is a high quality red wine, produced with Nebbiolo grapes grown in the hills of the city of the same name, located in the Piedmont region of Italy. The production area of this wine is characterized by a soil of volcanic origin, composed of porphyritic rocks, quartz, granite, tuff, schist and other volcanic conglomerates, which give the wine unique characteristics. The Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin (DOCG) guarantees that the Gattinara DOCG has been produced according to rigorous quality standards and that it complies with certain rules regarding grape cultivation, vinification and ageing. Gattinara DOCG is generally aged for at least three years, during which it develops a complex and fine aromatic profile, with notes of ripe red fruit, spices and hints of wood. It is a very authoritative wine, suitable to be paired with red meats and aged cheeses.
