Production area: hilly areas of Pelago in the Chianti Rufina area. Clayey, marly and calcareous soils overlooking the Arno valley east of Florence.

Exposure : south.

Altitude : 200/350 m asl

Grapes : Sangiovese.

Training system : spurred cordon.

Grape harvest : first half of October.

Vinification : fermentation of the grapes for 10 days in thermoregulated steel vats (26/28°C). Immediately after racking, grapes are added to the wine, previously dried on bamboo mats. After fermentation, the wine passes into wooden barrels.

Maturation : 9 months in wooden barrels.

Possibility of aging : 15/20 years.

Visual aspect : ruby red.

Olfactory aspect : enveloping scent, aromas of red and ripe fruit, long persistence.

Tasting aspect : the hints of red fruit return again and on the slightly spicy finish.

Accompaniments : it goes well with savory dishes and red meats, especially grilled.

Serving temperature : 19/20°C.
